The route, broken down.
Day 01Into the Old Quarter
Land in Hanoi and settle into the Old Quarter, then a city tour taking in the Temple of Literature, Tran Quoc Pagoda and the famous Train Street.
Day 02A full day on Halong Bay
Cruising the limestone karsts and emerald water all day, with kayaking and a cave stop. Indian and vegetarian meals are arranged on board.
Day 03Ninh Binh, then the night train
Hoa Lu, a sampan ride through the Trang An grottoes and the climb up Mua Cave. Dinner back in Hanoi, then a private four-berth cabin on the overnight train to Lao Cai.
Day 04Cat Cat Village and the glass bridge
Arrive into Lao Cai and transfer up to Sapa. The H'mong village of Cat Cat with its terraced fields and waterfall, then the Rong May glass bridge for the valley.
Day 05Fansipan, the roof of Indochina
The Muong Hoa mountain train and the cable car up to the 3,143 m summit, then Moana Sapa and the alpine coaster. The sleeper bus back to Hanoi has private cabins too.
Day 06South to Phu Quoc
Fly down to the island and settle in by the beach, then the hillside Ho Quoc Pagoda over the sea and the Kiss of the Sea show at Sunset Town after dark.
Day 07Safari, VinWonders and Grand World
A full island day: the drive-through Vinpearl Safari, the rides and aquarium at VinWonders with an Indian buffet lunch, then the Venice-style canals of Grand World by evening.
Day 08Four islands and the sea cable car
Island-hopping the An Thoi archipelago by speedboat, swimming at May Rut and snorkelling at Gam Ghi, lunch and the water park on Hon Thom, then the record-breaking sea-crossing cable car back.
